La Aparecida is very much a small town village set in its ways and thanks to this, it has not lost an ounce of its traditional Spanish courntyside character. A very unique character reigns over this town as it sits between the provinces of Alicante and Murcia and has belonged to both over the years. New farming methods and a thriving economy are patent in the towns ever increasing amenities and services but still customs are not lost and hospitality is still a number one priority.
It is well worth a trip to visit La Aparecida and get to know a village and its people who greet with open arms anyone who wishes to learn a little about this hidden gem at the base of the incredible Sierra de Orihuela mountain range.
Apart from its particular secular history, La Aparecida is also quite well documented because of its positioning on the skirts of the impressive Sierra de Orihuels. At its summot, "La Pilastra", it measures 633m above sea level and offers spectacular views over the Vega Baja and the neighbouring Murcia province.
At another of its many breathtaking beauty spots, it is the "Pico del Aguilla" (Eagle's Beak) that is of most interest due to the caves which can be found there with impressive stalactities and stalagmites. The most famous of these caves it the "Cueva del Santo" (Saint's cave) that can be found on the northwest ridge of the mountain range.
The fauna of the mountain range is very typical of southeast peninsula / Mediterranean climate.
The Vega Baja is full of exciting and interesting activities all through the year. Whether it be water sports at the beaches and marinas of the Costa Blanca and Costa Calida, to the exhilarating exploration of the many paths and routes in the area.
Golf also plays an important part of leisure with several golf courses nearby, such as: La Finca (Algorfa) and Altorreal (Molina del Degura) which are considered to be quite challenging and fun courses for novices and experts alike.
History and Culture plays an inportant part of the regions character. Orihuela has long been regarded as one of the most important ecclesiastic centres of Spain with much of its architecture based on gothic and classical styles which tried to cover up any remnants fo its Islamic past. The palaces and stately homes of Tudemir Pinohermoso, Marquis of Rafal, Condes de la Granja, Marquis of Arneva, Rubalcava and Baron of Linde to name but a few as well as the monasteries, convents, chapels and churches (2 cathedrals) which make up the heart of this impressive city.
La Aparecida has also a range of activities such as trekking along the many paths among the slopes of the Sierra de Orihuela mountain range where wild hares, eagles and quails can be seen amongst the stocky Mediterranean pine tree forests. Furthermore, La Aparecida is home to the area's recently built indoor municipal swimming and sports centre. Each Sunday morning there is a local market from 09.00 approx. to 14.00 hrs approx, here you will find an array of goods, leathers, local fruit / vegetables, clothing, etc.
But probably one of the best things to do in La Aparecida is enjoy their fiestas and local cuisine at the many small family run restaurants and tapa bars in all the small villages of the region.

"Flight Only" are available from many charter and non-charter operators from all UK and European airports and prices vary from airport to airport. Check out availability on this site and then check for flights, and then submit the website form below to get a reply on accommodation soonest.
On arrival at Alicante Airport or the "new" Murcia Airport you can uplift your own hire car OR collect pre-arranged rental car OR personal airport transfer by resident of the complex.
You should obtain your own holiday insurance from the travel agent, via your building society, major supermarkets or even the post office or bank.
From Alicante airport the A7 motorway connects to the E15 road at Orihuela junction turn off heading south #80 (approximately 45 kilometres = 28 miles of motorway and then approximately 10 kilometres = 6 miles of road) which passes La Aparecida. From Murcia (San Javier) Airport it is approximately 35 kilometres = 22 miles.

The complex is private apartments with owners mainly from UK. The entrance gate is access lock security controlled so open using key from outside or press the button on inside. The apartment keys are issued in the UK upon receipt of balance money due 4 weeks prior to departure. The apartment also has a safety deposit box for money / valuables. The balcony has sun most of the day from noon till sunset at night and overlooks the swimming pool in the centre of the "U" shaped courtyard development. A table, 4 chairs and a parasol are for use on the balcony off the living room, and similar is provided upstairs on rooftop.
Upstairs to the roof terrace you will find "oodles" of space to relax on the sun loungers, cook at the BBQ, jump in the jacuzzi/spa or just relax with a cool drink at the table/chairs and enjoy the 360 degree views of the village and the picturesque backdrop of the mountain range.
The village has a few shops, supermarket, restaurants, cafes, and bars etc that will tempt you to try out your skills of the Spanish language.

The kitchen off the living room has an electric hob, oven, fridge/freezer, sink, etc and the usual range of kitchen appliances/gadgets, etc. There are a pair of breakfast bar stools at the open plan kitchen / living room.
The bedrooms and living room have 3 speed pull cord "coolie" fans with lights. Separate pull cords for fan or light or both.

The apartment is provided with a change of bed linen and towels each week and these are exchanged, normally after each week, dependent on duration of stay. General cleaning and tidiness is the responsibility of the apartment visitors. Apartment shall be cleaned and ready for next visitors upon your departure. Normal exit time is 10.00am upon day of departure, however please ask as if no immediate guests then feel free to use the apartment till later that day. The apartment has one bath towel and one hand towel per person per week. I suggest that you take with you adequate towels as being hot, showering and pool have much need and towels are used more, than unused clothes taken with you!!
The apartment has double security locked from entrance door and requires two full turns and a quarter turn to open, anti-clockwise. The balcony doors from the bedroom and living room are latch snib locks - up/down - inside which remains in position. Door, roof door and entrance gate to complex keys are issued in the UK in SAE (jiffy bag) by postal service.
2 x banks with money exchange facilities are all available near at hand with +/- differing rates.
